About the Book
A Light of Her Own invites Muslim women to see their womanhood not as something that stands in the way of their relationship with Allah, but as an integral part of their spiritual journey.
Drawing from the Qur’an, Sunnah, classical Islamic scholarship, and the realities of women’s lives, Aalimah Sarah explores the experiences, relationships, roles, and seasons unique to Muslim women, showing how each can become an opportunity for greater closeness to Allah.
About Aalimah Sarah Ahmed
Aalimah Sarah Ahmed is an Islamic scholar, author, and educator whose work centers on making classical Islamic knowledge accessible, practical, and relevant to the lived experiences of Muslim women.
She holds an ʿĀlimiyyah degree from Dar al-Ulum al-Madania in New York and has spent more than a decade teaching Islamic Studies, women’s fiqh, and Qur’an.
Aalimah Sarah is the co-director of EmpowHer Health, a Muslim women’s faith and wellness community in the Dallas–Fort Worth area, and co-host of the She Should Know podcast. She is also the author of Reading Qur’an: A Step-by-Step Guide to Qur’anic Fluency and A Light of Her Own: Muslim Womanhood as a Path to Allah.
